Job Summary

Responsibilities include all aspects of IT operations within the Resort.
These include hiring, supervision and professional development of on-site IT staff, coordination and of IT related projects, procurement of hardware and software, support of all on-site systems as well as proprietary systems specific to Vail Resorts.
Responsibilities also include telecommunications systems and all other network related infrastructure including physical facilities which support our in-house computing assets.
Works closely with corporate IT team members to provide a compliant IT environment.
The position functions as the primary liaison with resort management.
Position is passionate about customer service, system reliability and compliance with corporate computing standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to Mid Atlantic Regional Group Manager.
    Supports IT and resort management in any and all aspects of departmental operations.
    Acts as IT point of contact and coordination for projects and support issues for the resort.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training and providing professional development opportunities for IT staff members.
    Performs performance appraisals for each staff member.
  • Daily supervision of staff, management of on-call schedule and coordination with Help Desk and other IT departments every day to ensure acceptable customer service levels.
  • Responsible for local IT budget.
    Works with IT management and regional finance department resources to develop, maintain and implement established budgets.
  • Install, support and maintain (Adds/Moves/Changes) all on-site software and hardware to support local operations as described by company and departmental policies and standards.

    This will include support of on-mountain systems.
    After hours work and on-call support are required.
    May require some lifting, carrying and operation of company vehicles.
  • Plans and coordinates the procurement of equipment and software according to department standards and procedures.
    Provides project management / tracking to insure project budgets and day-to-day work schedules are being met.
    Build, maintain and update documentation as needed for compliance with company computer related standards (SOX and PCI) and other company documentation standards.
  • Maintains vendor relationships, procures pricing and technical specifications for equipment and projects as needed.
    Strategic planning as related to vendor direction and future technological changes is vital.
  • Strong team working effort in project management and implementation is needed to ensure accurate communication and coordination with resort operations and IT.
    Maintains relationships with key departments and departmental contacts as needed for successful implementation of projects and maintenance schedules.
  • Performs at or above the Information Technologies performance standards.
    Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, FTO or education.

Job Requirements

  • Proven track record in computer support and administration
  • 3 years minimum Management experience.
    Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Solid understanding desktop operating systems and business applications (point of sale, efficiency and teamwork software, etc.
    )
  • Understanding of WAN, LAN, telephony, server, storage and security technologies and standard methodologies
  • Advanced understanding and troubleshooting skills required for desktop applications and network protocols such as TCP/IP
  • After hours support and maintenance, on-call duties and on-mountain work assignments
